We are the principal informal discussion forum for those involved in taxation matters of financial institutions in the UK, with a view to assisting our respective organisations and their clients in optimising their tax costs.
We provide, at modest cost, an annual programme or meetings focusing on topical matters across the entire range of tax affairs and matters impacting on financial institutions both in the UK and internationally.
Meetings are led by leading figures from the legal, accounting and business world, as well as by members of the Circle itself.
The Bankers' Taxation Circle was founded in 1955, as an informal association of employees of British and foreign banks with a common interest in taxation. It first met on Friday, 18 March 1955 at the Comedy Restaurant in Panton Street, London. This was followed up by the first formal meeting of the circle on 1 May 1955, where the first constitution of the Circle was drafted.
